James’ Portfolio

Welcome to my online portfolio!

I started contributing freelance articles and reviews in 2009 to various print and online publications.

In 2009, I founded Film Blerg and served as the Publisher/Editor-in-Chief until we ended operations in mid-2020. (I also continue to write the occasional review here and there – my 250+ Film Blerg contributions can be viewed here).

Outside of freelance writing, I’ve worked in marketing and communications roles for the last ten years. Here’s a snippet of my work.

Note: I have contributed to a number of print and online publications. Many publications, particularly online publications, have since shut down. I am in the process of uploading links and PDFs where I can. Many of these reviews were republished on Film Blerg.

* A note about reviews for Upstart – I am credited at the end of the review. For some reason, the current editor at the time was credited as the writer.
