Jay Roach brings back some inappropriate humour, bathed in a Hollywood budget with two of the most popular comedic actors of the time. Whether by merit or the overrated star machine, Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis are hugely popular stars, and placing them together seems a marketing team’s dream. Luckily enough, The Campaign is actually quite enjoyable and genuinely funny.

The final episode of The Straits culminated in an action packed episode filled with drama. The episode begins with Harry (Brian Cox) aimlessly wandering around his empty house. A rare voiceover briefly appears. It is Harry’s voice. After enjoying a few beers, Harry stumbles into Sissi’s (Suzannah Bayes-Morton) room.

After a tumultuous ending last week, The Straits returns with a much more sombre episode. Killing Lola (Emma Lung) has a mentally crippling effect on Marou  (Jim Bani) as he lies in the hotel room next to his dead wife.

Without a doubt, The Straits entered into uncharted territories of compelling Australian drama, not frequently seen on the small screen.

Perhaps a normal series may mark important revelations and cliffhangers at one a piece per episode. The Straits, however, climaxes it’s seventh episode with one mega revelation, a big hint at another, and brutal crime that leaves one family member in strife (if not death.)

After last week’s kidnapping of Marou (Jim Bani), The Straits continues the family fight for safety and who holds the throne. Noel (Aaron Fa’aoso) and Sissi (Suzannah Bayes-Morton) butt heads and clash over who is the alpha dog and head honcho.

Ending last week’s episode with a literal bang, The Straits picks up with the Montebello’s avenging the attack on Harry (Brian Cox).

Described by director Rachel Ward as “The Sopranos in thongs”, the fourth episode of The Straits returns with a literal bang.

It’s official. I’m hooked. The third episode of The Straits pulls you in without reproach and addictively drags you along for the enthralling ride.

From the opening shots of the title sequence, it is difficult not to recall HBO’s landmark series The Sopranos. The music sounds very similar in tone and vocal quality to “Woke Up This Morning” by Alabama 3.
