To celebrate the premiere of Matchbox Pictures new series The Straits, airing tonight on ABC1, Film Blerg will see a companion series follow each week. Picking an idea and a theme was a long and difficult process.
The winning choice: Thievish Thursdays.
The success of our Classic Screen Slap series with Matchbox’s last production The Slap, inspired the arrival of Thievish Thursdays, and we are extremely excited about the advent of this latest feature.
As the weekly episodes of The Straits go to air, Film Blerg will be looking at seminal Australian films and television series that featured families of crime, or individuals of crime that made headlines. Both fictional and true stories will be featured.
To kick off the new feature, we shall take a look at Paul Goldman’s outstanding Suburban Mayhem starring Emily Barclay, Anthony Hayes and Genevieve Lemon.
